District, Free State, as part of the Presidential Imbizo

Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers,
the Free State Premier Beatrice Marshoff, Provincial Members of the Executive
Council and senior Government officials, will on Saturday, 2 and Sunday, 3
December 2006 attend a Presidential Imbizo aimed at strengthening the capacity
of the District and Local Municipalities to deliver services at the Xhariep
District area, Free State.
This will be the last Presidential Imbizo for 2006, and like the other
Izimbizo through out the year, the Xhariep Imbizo will mainly focus on the
Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA),
Government's Programme of Action and how National and Provincial Governments
supports the District through Project Consolidate.
The Programme of the Imbizo will on Saturday include the launch of a
Multi-Purpose Community Centre (MPCC) in Zastron; a door-to-door walkabout in
Smithfield; and the community Imbizo in Rouxville. On Sunday the Deputy
President and her delegation will visit the Zanokhanyo Leather Project in
Philipollis.
Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka will also interact with the business and
other stakeholders as well as the leadership of the Municipality to discuss
ways in which Government can improve the pace of service delivery and the
economy of the Xhariep District.
