The Presidential Imbizo programme, a forum for enhancing dialogue and
interaction between government and the people, will see Deputy President
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka visiting the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality in the
Northern Cape from Friday, 18 to Saturday, 19 August 2006.
The imbizo also provides an opportunity for government to communicate its
Programme of Action and the progress made in its implementation as well as
provide support to identified municipalities under Project Consolidate.
During her visit, the Deputy President will be briefed on the State of the
District, meet stakeholders such as business, non-governmental organisations
and other sectors of civil society before engaging the public in a community
Imbizo.
She is also scheduled to visit a number of community projects and embark on
door-to-door visits. She will be accompanied by several Cabinet Ministers, the
Premier of the Northern Cape province, Ms Dipuo Peters, and members of the
Provincial Executive Council.
