Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will on Saturday, 19 May, attend a
sod-turning ceremony, of the multi-million rand community project, the King
Matiwane Cultural village at Ingoba, Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal.

The King Matiwane Cultural Village is being constructed at the World
Heritage Site and has provided over 400 jobs to the local people.

The development of the village, funded by a South African government grant
through the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, and implemented
through a local non-governmental organisation (NGO), the Inkosi Tshanibezwe
Development Trust, will bring more tourism-related opportunities to the
community of Bergville largely through craftwork.

In the context of the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South
Africa (AsgiSA), tourism has been identified as one of key sectors which are
labour-intensive and requiring priority attention.

Members of the media are invited to attend as follows:
Date: 19 May 2007
Time: 15h00
