Funeral of former State President, Marais Viljoen

The late former State President, Marais Viljoen, will be laid to rest on
Saturday, 13 January 2007, in the Free State province city of Bloemfontein.
Government will, according to policy, accord Mr Viljoen a state funeral; albeit
limited as per the family's request.

Deputy President Ms Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, will attend the funeral on
behalf of President Thabo Mbeki who will be attending the African National
Congress' 95th Anniversary celebration in Witbank, Mpumalanga province.

The funeral service will commence at the Pretoria East Dutch Reformed Church
at 09h00 in the morning where after the remains will be flown to Bloemfontein
from Waterkloof Airforce Base at 11h45 for a private burial at 12h45.

There will be a military lead detachment at the Waterkloof and the
Bloemspruit Airforce bases. Members of the media are invited to the church and
Airforce bases' proceedings.
