Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will later today, Thursday, February
8, 2007, attend the "Cobra: Enabling women to take their community story to
parliament" event in Parliament, Cape Town.

The Deputy President is expected to hand over a R150 000 cheque to the
overall winner of the competition to fund a community project of their
choice.

The competition commenced on 15 July 2006 and closed on 30 September 2006
and encouraged women across the country to write stories about their community
and the winning story from each province would form part of a book to be
presented in parliament. The overall winner would then receive a prize of R150
000 cheque.

Nine (9) women representing nine (9) provinces will gather in parliament to
present the book with the community stories to be received by the Deputy
President and the Speaker of Parliament Ms Baleka Mbete.
