African Union (Comedaf III), 9 Aug

Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka to deliver the keynote address
at the COMEDAF III Conference

The Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Mrs Phumzile
Mlambo-Ngcuka, will tomorrow, Thursday, 9 August 2007, at 16h30 deliver the
keynote address at the third session of the Conference of Ministers of
Education of the African Union (Comedaf III), currently underway at the
Southern Sun Greyston Hotel, Sandton in Johannesburg.

Over 200 delegates, comprising Ministers of Education of the African Union
countries, international organisations and education experts from across the
globe are attending the conference.

The theme is 'Education in Africa.'

The Meeting of the Ministers of Education of the African Union, scheduled to
start at 08h30, tomorrow, Thursday, 9 August 2007, will see over 40 ministers
of Education across Africa converging to discuss various issues patterning to
Education in Africa.

South African Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor, Dr Musa Bin Jaafar
Hassan, the President of the General Conference of United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and Dr Boubekeur Benbouzid, the
Minister of Education of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, will all
share the stage during the opening session of the meeting.

The Opening session will be followed at 09h45 by the viewing of the
Exhibition of the Educational Material and equipment for teaching science and
technology.
