Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs Paul Mashatile will table the
2007 Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) and the Adjustment Budget
Statement in the Gauteng Legislature on Tuesday, 27 November 2007.
The MTBPS sets out the macro-economic context and fiscal policy
considerations against which the 2008 Provincial Budget will be framed. It
outlines, amongst other things, the main spending priorities for the next three
years. The Adjustment Budget Statement provides an instrument that allows
government to respond to circumstances, between any two main budgets, resulting
from expenditure that may not have been foreseen nor avoided and that which
might have been wrongly placed within or between votes.
