âYouth 2 Youth â 30 YEARS AFTER SOWETO â76â is a book being launched by
Minister Z Pallo Jordan on Saturday, 17 June 2006, at the Book Fair being held
at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Cape Town.
The book is a collection of photographic work done by young South Africans
from Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. It is their
photographic reflection of how they see South Africa today. It is sponsored by
the Department of Arts and Culture and is a part commemoration of the Soweto
Uprising that took place on 16 June 1976. The world renowned photographer,
George Hallet, assembled and edited the work. He was assisted by provincial
co-ordinators Shizeeda Osman in Gauteng, Fani Jason in Western Cape, Rajesh
Jantilall and Rafs Mayet in KwaZulu-Natal and Jenny Gorden in Eastern Cape. The
author, Mandla Langa, wrote a fitting foreword. The book has been published by
Wits University Press.
