Minister of Arts and Culture Dr Z Pallo Jordan invites you to
attend the official media briefing for the Africa and Diaspora Conference on
Cultural Diversity

The Department of Arts and Culture, in partnership with the South African
National Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organisation (Unesco), is hosting the Africa and Diaspora Conference to address
Cultural Diversity for Social Cohesion and Sustainable Development, 11 - 15
September 2006, at Sun City, South Africa.

Minister Jordan will open the gathering, which is expected to attract over
400 international delegates and participants from English, French, Portuguese,
Swahili and Spanish Africa, the Diaspora and the Caribbean.

The conference aims to support Africa’s socio-economic Renaissance by
providing a platform for dialogue and lobbying for common policies on the
protection and promotion of cultural diversity and the role that culture can
play in promoting peace and security on the continent and in other similar
environments across the world.

The media briefing takes place at:
Venue: Imbizo Media Room, Parliamentary Precinct, 120 Plein Street, Cape
Town.
Date: Thursday, 31 August 2006
Time: 11h00 – 12h30 (sharp)

Notes to the media:

Media is welcome to attend the conference. Transport from Gauteng and
accommodation at Sun City will be provided and the closing press conference
will take place on the evening of Thursday, 14 September 2006.
