The National Youth Commission (NYC) invites members of the media to a press
briefing to release the resolutions of the National Youth Policy Review
Convention.
The details of the briefing are as follows:
Venue: Emperor's Palace, Kempton Park
Date: Wednesday, 7 June 2006
Time: 11h00
The purpose of the briefing is to allow members of the media to interact
with the NYC on the resolutions of the National Youth Policy Review Convention
currently taking place at the venue mentioned above.
The convention is held as a response to the Cabinet Statement (23 November
2005) on the need to review the National Youth Development Policy Framework and
the array of institutions charged with youth development.
During the opening ceremony of the convention, Deputy President Phumzile
Mlambo-Ngcuka, the Deputy Minister in Foreign Affairs, Dr Essop Pahad and the
NYC Chairperson, Jabu Mbalula reflected on youth development since 1994 and
some possible solutions in the government programme of action towards 2014.
Currently, delegates are deliberating on these issues including various
policy positions from different youth organisations and parts of the
country.
