Setsokotsane, a revolutionary programme in support of a radical socio-economic transformation
Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo described Setsokotsane as a revolutionary programme of the 5th administration that seeks to radically change the lives of people through integrated and enhanced service delivery provision. Setsokotsane represents the philosophy of a people driven government. Mahumapelo said this while addressing a gathering of community members who sought information about business opportunities in government at Chris Hani Hall in Tswelelang today.
Addressing a packed hall, Mahumapelo advised community members to take advantage of the training provided through the Department of Finance, Economy & Enteprise Development on Financial Management in order to stay clear from the scourge of debt trap which tends to engulf businesses.
Mahumapelo emphasised that the Department of Finance, Economy & Enterprise Development had invited community members from Tswelelang to empower them with information about funding opportunities for cooperatives and to assess the functionality of existing cooperatives with a view to reviving them.
Equally present in the same meeting were pastors and prayer groups from different churches who heartily welcomed Premier Mahumapelo’s visit to Tswelelang Township.
He took time to explain the Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal (R,H&R) Plan which he said is an important pillar of Setsokotsane as it seeks to heal the wounds of the past by reinforcing messages of reconciliation, healing and renewal.
The R,H&R also seeks to heal the wounds arising from the current disputes among the people which are a consequence of economic deprivation. R ,H& R feeds into Mahumapelo’s philosophy of Saamtrek Saamwerk which he envisions as part of the provincial government’s plan to get communities to work together irrespective of their social, political, economic or religious backgrounds.
Mahumapelo’s packed day further involved addressing the Community Based Planners at Maquasie Hills Local Municipality. He unpacked the intentions of Setsokotsane and passionately pleaded with them to be patient with the community in further explaining Setsokotsane.
Setsokotsane will criss cross all local municipalities of Dr Kenneth Kaunda District municipality for the two months of August and September 2015 in a quest to tangibly respond to the service delivery needs of the communities.
