MEC for Public Works, Honourable Howard Yawa today received a Bronze Award
on behalf of the Department. The award was presented at the 2005 Professional
Management Review (PMR) Leaders and Achievers Annual Awards presentation
ceremony held at the Tusk Mmabatho Resort and Casino in Mmabatho.
The Department of Public Works was nominated as the second overall most
pro-active provincial government department by North West businesses,
provincial and local government and other stakeholders.
The prestigious award by PMR follows close to the Department receiving
recognition for excellence in the 2005 Premier's Public Service Excellence
Awards held last Friday at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in the following
categories:
* Gold Award - Best Performing Project team through implementation of the
Modimola Expanded Public Works Programme Project
* Silver Award - Second Best Performing Department in the Province
An excited MEC Yawa said, "these accolades are a recognition of the
determination of employees of the Department to shed the old image of the
Department. Their resolve to denounce business as usual and strive for service
excellence is being felt within government and in broader communities. We are
challenged to reach for greater heights."
