The North West Department of Public Works' resolve to denounce business as
usual and fast track service delivery is evident in its performance in the
Public Infrastructure Renovation Programme, says MEC Yawa.
MEC Yawa says that in the Central Region, the Department has delivered 10
school renovation projects to the Department of Education within contract
periods and also revamped the Atamelang Circuit Office.
On renovation of residential government properties, the Department has given
a facelift to the Blue and White flats in Golf View (Mafikeng) and Connie
Minchin Flats in Montshioa.
Construction of a guardhouse at the Lehurutshe Traffic Office is completed
and the construction of stores by Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)
beneficiaries at Molopo, Ditsobotla and Lehurutshe Districts are nearing
completion.
Meanwhile, MEC Yawa is to award certificates to EPWP beneficiaries in the
Central Region who have completed training in construction skills and
life-skills. The certificates awarding function is to be held at 12h00 on
Tuesday, 4 April 2006, at the Barolong Boo Ratshidi Community Hall.
The Central Region was recently awarded the Best Performing Regions Award
for the 2005/06 financial year during the MEC's Excellence Awards.
