North West Public Works to hold women farmers graduation, 23 Aug

Twenty-two young women learner farmers to graduate

As part of thirty learner farmers attached to the R25 million Integrated
Modimola Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), 22 women learner farmers
contractors and sixteen learner contractors are to receive certificates at a
graduation function to be held at the Mafikeng Hotel School on Wednesday, 23
August 2006.22

The learner farmers were selected to participate in the NQF level one
Farming Learnership offered by the Agriseta. They were trained by Taletso
College in mixed farming, plant production and maintenance, pest control,
applied business in agriculture, mathematics and communication.

The 16 learner contractors participated in the NQF Level two Construction
Contracting Learnership Programme offered by the Construction Industry
Education and Training Services (CIETS). Their training included survey
techniques, implementation of environmental initiatives and various labour
intensive construction methods, business and construction management, site,
health and safety management, administration and quality control.

The occasion will be graced by among others members of the portfolio
committee on Public Works currently on five-day provincial oversight visit.
