by NEHAWU

The North West Provincial Legislature’s official response to
the proposed unlawful strike action by National Education Health and Allied
Workers Union (NEHAWU) members, on 17 March 2006

16 March 2006

The North West Provincial Legislature today, Thursday 16 March 2006,
received an interim court order, which prohibits any employee of the
Legislature from engaging in any form of strike or unlawful industrial
action.

The notice of application was brought before the Labour Court of South
Africa in Johannesburg today by the legislature, as a result of a very small
pocket of NEHAWU members who wanted to embark on an unlawful strike action.

The union has until Tuesday, 28 March 2006, to respond and state why this
interim court order should not be made permanent.
