North West Provincial Legislature commences Women's Month build
up activities

From 24 to 27 July 2007, the Public Participation and Communication Units of
the North West Provincial Legislature will be on the road again, workshopping
the women (and men) of the North West province for Women's Parliament 2007.
This is one of the build up activities being undertaken by the institution in
preparation for the Women's Month celebrations in August.

The thematic areas under discussion are women and education, women and the
environment and women and access to land and property. The workshops will
commence in Tosca in the Molopo Municipality on 24 July, move to Maquassi Hills
Municipality in Maquassi on 25 July, in Mogwase in Moses Kotane Municipality on
25 July and in Zeerust, Ramotshere Moiloa Municipality on 27 July 2007.

Participants have been canvassed from different stakeholder groups
including, amongst others, South African Women in Dialogue (SAWID), Departments
of Agriculture, Education, Justice and Department of Environment Affairs and
Tourism, Women in Business, farmers' unions, mines and mineworkers etc.

Participants selected from each workshop will take part in the Provincial
Women's Parliament Workshop taking place in Mafikeng at the Legislature on 7
August 2007. This workshop will select 10 women (or men) to take part in the
provincial Women's Parliament taking place on 8 August 2007 at the Legislature.
These same ten women (or men) will also represent the province in Cape Town at
Parliament for the national Women's Parliament taking place from 28 to 29
August 2007.

The workshops commence at 09h00 on each day. Members of the public who are
