North West on Performance Management Regulations (PMR) Business Leaders
and Achievers Awards Breakfast

Molewa and North West honoured

North West Premier, Edna Molewa has been nominated by the people of the
province as the most proactive figure in the province during the past twelve
months. The award was made during the Performance Management Regulations (PMR)
Business Leaders and Achievers Awards Breakfast held in Klerksdorp
recently.

The PMR Business Leaders and Achievers Awards Breakfast is an annual event
held in South Africa's nine provinces to honour leaders and achievers for their
contribution in economic growth and development. PMR Awards provide an
opportunity for recipients to achieve their due recognition in front of peers,
competitors, stakeholders and clients.

"Awards such as these from PMR allow us to measure whether the North West
Provincial Government is on track in delivering quality services to our people.
It also give us feedback on our own performance", said Premier Molewa.

The people of the province have also nominated the following departments for
doing most overall for prosperity and growth in the province; Department of
Economic Development and Tourism (first place), Transport, Roads and Community
Safety (second) and Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (third).

It is also heartening to note that the provincial government has been
recognised for its efforts in eradicating poverty, creating jobs and building a
sustainable economy. The following departments were honoured for having been
the most effective in achieving their goals in the last twelve months: Economic
Development and Tourism, Health (second), Local Government and Housing,
Transport, Roads and Community Safety, Finance and Education.

The following cities and towns were recognised for doing their most for
social upliftment in the North West: Rustenburg (first), City of Matlosana
(second), Mafikeng (two), Potchefstroom (third). In addition, Rustenburg is
joined by Mafikeng, Potchefstroom and the City of Matlosana in the category of
doing most to attract local investment to the province.

Molewa said: "While recognising the challenges of undoing the legacy of
centuries of deprivation and underdevelopment, we remain confident that
together with our people, we will achieve the key objectives that we have set
for ourselves."

North West Premier Edna Molewa expressed her gratitude to the people of the
province for the confidence that they have consistently demonstrated in the
provincial government's capacity and commitment to implement programmes that
are intended to change their lives for the better. "Our people, on whose
mandate we serve, are the final arbiters of the performance of the provincial
government," said Molewa.

The North West Provincial Government will continue to do more than what we
have already done in pursuit of a better life for all.
