Please be informed that the Portfolio Committee for Developmental Local
Government and Housing will be undertaking oversight visit to Zeerust
(Ikageleng), Lichtenburg (Boikhutso), Bloemhof and Christiana from 14 to 15
March 2007.
The first oversight visit will be to Ikageleng in Zeerust, where the
Committee will meet with the Municipality and thereafter meet with the key
people in the three civic groups of concerned residents. This delegation will
comprise Honourable Gerber, Honourable Matlholwa and Honourable Mocumi. This
oversight visit will commence at 10h00 with the civic groups being met at
10h30.
The second oversight visit runs concurrent with the first taking place at
Boikhutso in Lichtenburg where the Committee will also meet with the
Municipality and then address a formal meeting at 10h00 of members of the
public, concerned residents and other civic groups. This delegation will be led
by the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee for Developmental Local
Government and Housing Honourable Mahlakeng Mahlakeng accompanied by
Honourables Hattingh and Hlangwana.
The two groups will then converge in Christiana on Thursday, 15 March 2007,
where the complete Committee will visit the Municipality and then be addressed
by members of the public, concerned residents and other civic groups.
