The North West Cultural Calabash has for the past 11 years been a cradle of
the youth artistic development. It has successfully seen the birth and
unearthing of the talent in the North West province and beyond. The 2006
calabash began with the auditions at the local municipalities for the
professional and semi professionals. This culminated into the district previews
at all districts of the province in all artistic codes.
The Calabash main festival will be taking place at its place of origin
during the Heritage Month in Taung from 22 â 24 September 2006. The theme for
this year will be âNorth West Youth Culture in the Age of Hopeâ. Proceeds from
the kwaito festival for this year will be dedicated to the flood victims in
Taung with the cream of North West artists performing.
It is against this background that you are invited to the media launch to be
held on 16 August 2006 at Potchefstroom City Hall, at 10h00. There will be a
media briefing session on 2 August 2006 at Mmabana Mafikeng Boardroom at 10h00.
