services to the community

Mafikeng â The North West Department of Health has accepted with pride and
excitement the Platinum Award for best performing department and the Premierâs
Batho Pele Civil Service Achiever of the Year. The awards including the ones
for Best Performing Directorate, which went to Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital
Complex, and the Best Performing Programme, which again was taken by the Health
Departmentâs Home Based Care unit, were presented to MEC Nomonde Rasmeni and
her dedicated team members by Premier Edna Molewa during the Premierâs Service
Excellence awards ceremony held on Friday.
The Department won all these awards in recognition of what the Premier said
was the excellent quality health care services rendered to the community,
including the element of respecting the Batho-Pele principle that was and
continues to be demonstrated by our health workers.
MEC for Health Nomonde Rasmeni who was visibly excited said the Departmentâs
achievements were on the hands of committed workers who are passionate about
their work. âThe awards that we won indicate that despite the many challenges
that the Department is faced with, we managed to go beyond our call of duty and
delivered as expected. This proves that only the best team can produce the best
results for the best Department; hence these prestigious awards are today in
our possession,â acknowledged MEC Rasmeni.
Under the Departmentâs Hospital Services directorate, the
Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex we believe did not receive this important
award by mistake. This can be attributed by the fact that last year the complex
won the best hospital in the province award and was presented with a three-year
accreditation certificate from the Council of Health Service Accreditation of
Southern Africa (COHSASA).
The Home-Based Care programme that is known for its many challenges that are
facing especially volunteered care-givers, has also proved that with the
immense involvement of community members, the nation can be supported and
healed. What the Department is promising the recipients of our services is that
we are not going to sit on top of these awards. Given their value, we are
optimistic that they will give us more courage and enthusiasm to diligently put
our potential across. We are definitely motivated and we are going to ensure
that the trust and support that our communities have bestowed upon us is
eternally maintained, concluded MEC Nomonde Rasmeni.
