Mafikeng - The Moses Kotane and Vryburg communities will during this
financial year be proud owners of state-ofâthe-art hospitals to be completed
soon. Three more Community Health Centre projects done in partnership with
Independent Development Trust (IDT) are due for completion and soon the people
of Pella, Mogwase and Phedisong will receive modern health facilities for their
usage and care.
In addition to these great developments, the North West Department of Health
promises to proceed with speed with regard to the planning of the new Brits
Hospital.
North West Health MEC announced these remarkable plans on Thursday, 30 March
2006, during the 2006/07 Budget Speech presentation at the Provincial
Legislature.
"Apart from these, the Province is also engaged in a process of finalising a
plan on the modernisation of tertiary services. This plan will ensure greater
access by communities to provincial tertiary services and reduce the transfer
or referral of patients between provinces," announced MEC Rasmeni.
The Department believes the more health facilities it has, the more access
to quality healthcare service communities will have. MEC Rasmeni acknowledges
that although there is still a serious shortage of health workers in some of
the health facilities, the Department hopes that by the time the new facilities
are completed, some measurable progress in appointing new staff members would
have been registered.
