(NWHC) scam by Mr Chris Hattingh of the Democratic Alliance (DA)

The department has observed with disappointment that for political
expedience, Mr Chirs Hattingh, MPL of the Democratic Party in his statement
prefers to refer to the report of Adhoc Committee on the Memorandum of Demands
and Compliance as the "Report on the North West Housing Corporation scam."
However, the department welcomes the resolution of the North West Provincial
Legislature to establish an independent commission to further investigate the
allegations of impropriety of the auctioning of the North West Housing flats as
no conclusive finding and sanction regarding the process was arrived at by the
committee of which Mr Hattingh was a member.
Since allegations of impropriety were tested in a court of law that ruled in
favour of the North West Housing Corporation and the Department of
Developmental Local Government and Housing in December 2006, the department
believes that the commission presents everyone including those whose integrity
has been called to question by the recommendations of the Adhoc Committee with
an opportunity to clear their names.
