Potchefstroom College Agriculture Graduations

13 April 2007

The North West Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment, in
its endeavour to ensure sound training and skills development for agriculture,
will, through Potchefstroom College of Agriculture, hold a graduation ceremony
on Wednesday 18 April 2007 in Potchefstroom, at the college.

The importance of human and institutional capacity building is critical in
the agricultural sector. To succeed, prospective farmers and agricultural
practitioners alike need the technical and farm management skills to run
successful agricultural enterprises. Additionally the success of government
programmes depends on the capacity of the beneficiary and implementer to deal
effectively with challenges and opportunities of the commercial farming world,
and for this, capacity and skill are key as indicated in the Provincial Growth
and Development Strategy.

The annual graduation ceremony will witness the College conferring Diplomas
in Agriculture to 33 students as well as Higher Certificates in Agriculture to
23 students. As a way to motivate them for the impending hard work ahead, The
MEC for Agriculture, Conservation and Environment Mandlenkosi Mayisela will
deliver a keynote address to graduates and their respective parents.

The ceremony is scheduled as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 18 April 2007
Time: 10h00, Constitution of the Convocation
Venue: Potchefstroom College, Main Exam Hall

All media are invited.
