National Prosecuting Authority on prosecuting R McBride

State v McBride

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) hereby confirms that a decision to
prosecute Mr Robert McBride has been reached. This follows a conclusion of an
investigative process by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

M McBride appeared before the Pretoria Regional Court on Friday, 20 July
2007. He is facing the following charges:
1. contravention of section 65 of the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996
(driving under the influence of liquor), alternatively reckless/negligent
driving
2. defeating or obstructing the course of justice
3. fraud.

He was not asked to plead and was granted bail at R1 000 with conditions not
to interfere with witnesses.

The case has been postponed to 8, 9 and 12 November as well as 10 to 14
December 2007 for trial.
