National Prosecuting Authority on J Selebi and J Zuma

Status on the matters of National Police Commissioner Jackie
Selebi and ANC Deputy President Mr Jacob Zuma

The review panel that was appointed to review the matter of the charges
against the National Police Commissioner Jackie Selebi has today submitted a
report containing its findings and/or recommendations to the acting National
Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Adv Mokotedi Mpshe.

The acting NDPP will study the report and the National Prosecuting Authority
(NPA) will make known its decision as soon as it is ready to do so.

With respect to the matter of Mr Jacob Zuma, the investigations are ongoing.
The prosecuting team will today present a final briefing to the acting NDPP,
and he will announce his decision on the matter after careful consideration of
all information presented.

This process is a very protracted one and involves the assessment of all the
work completed thus far.
