Mafikeng - The provision of decent and quality healthcare services and the
conduct of some of our staff members towards the public will again come under
the spotlight during the North West Health MEC, Nomonde Rasmeni's visits to the
four districts.
Following the April Health Month Letsema visits, the MEC will once again
make a follow up visit to the Department's four districts starting with
Central. Accompanied by top officials from the department, local government
representatives and governance structures leadership, the MEC will be on a
mission to interact with stakeholders and officials on key service delivery
targets.
Recently the province has recorded a high number of complaints of poor
health service delivery, especially amongst some of our media houses. The MEC
will be meeting with all the above stakeholders to get information from the
horse's mouth on challenges and best possible ways to resolve these challenges;
because any way they are not unique to our province, but a challenge for
developing countries.
"As a caring department we are going to continue auditing our facilities and
personnel in line with our service delivery targets and further understand why
some of our services are not up to scratch - like our Emergency Management
Services (EMS)," explained Rasmeni.
"This is not my first visit, previous visits have enabled us the opportunity
to asses service delivery, improve our working relations and hear from
governance structures on how best can we collectively work together to improve
provision of our health services. We will work hard until our communities are
satisfied with our services particularly emergency medical service component
and we can only achieve this once we work together with the relevant
stakeholders," concluded MEC Nomonde Rasmeni.
The road show program is scheduled as follows:
* Central District: 7 September 2006
* Bophirima District: 11 September 2006
* Southern District: 18 September 2006
* Bojanala District: 26 September 2006
Members of the media are invited to accompany the MEC during these road
shows.
