North West Health MEC Nomonde Rachel Rasmeni will on Thursday, 30 March
2006, present the Health Department Budget Vote for the financial year 2006/07
before the North West Provincial Legislature.
The speech dubbed "Age of hope, a national effort for accelerated service
delivery of quality healthcare" will be based on the pillars of human rights.
The main objective here is to reinforce the noble goal, which states that
access to decent, quality and free healthcare services is a fundamental human
right.
MEC Rasmeni will present before the Legislature, the tremendous progress
that the Department registered in fulfilling promises made in the previous
financial year. The building and upgrading of health facilities throughout the
province, being able to resolve human resource matters raised by health
professionals, improving the Emergency Medical Services and purchasing more
ambulances, being able to respond to non-communicable and communicable disease
outbreaks instantly, are some of the highlights that MEC Rasmeni will talk
about in her speech.
"This reasonable advancement we believe is the one that earned us the award
for the best performing department, as declared by the Premier of the Province
earlier this year," MEC Rasmeni said.
In her 2006/07 budget presentation, it is expected that MEC Rasmeni will
outline the priorities of the Department, which include, among others,
activities of the 2006 April Health Month, which will start in earnest next
month, the expansion of the Comprehensive Plan on the Management, Care and
Treatment of HIV and AIDS, building of new health facilities, recruiting and
retaining measures for health professionals, and making healthcare service
delivery more accessible to all communities.
Members of the media are invited to attend the Budget speech presentation
that will be tabled before North West Provincial Legislature on Thursday,
starting at 11h00.
