N Pandor to launch school governing body elections, 5 May

The Minister of Education, Ms Naledi Pandor, and Provincial
MECs for Education will officially launch the school governing body elections
on Friday, 5 May 2006

The Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor, MP, will on Friday, 5 May
2006, officially launch the School Governing Body (SGB) Elections at the Simon
Goniwe Community Hall, Delmas Circuit, Mpumalanga.

All public schools are expected in May and June to elect members of their
SGBs. This will be the fourth election since the new public system came into
effect in 1997.
 
The May and June 2006 elections will occur at the same time nationally and
provincial education departments are expected to ensure that these elections
are in line with the National Guidelines for SGBs.
 
The theme for the 2006 is “Vote for your child’s future”.
