delegation

1 August 2007

The Minister of Education, Naledi Pandor has once more, this afternoon
strongly condemned the burning of classrooms, intimidation of learners and
educators in Khutsong.

Speaking during the meeting in Pretoria with the Khutsong Minister's
fraternal delegation, the Minister called upon all leaders and the community of
Khutsong to encourage educators and learners to go back to school.

Minister Pandor said. "There can be no justification for burning school
buildings as well as the intimidation of learners and educators, particularly
when the processes of legal remedies have not been exhausted by the community
of Khutsong."

The meeting was at the request of the Khutsong Minister's fraternal
delegation to discuss issues related to education in Khutsong.

Minister Pandor assured the delegation that, together with the North West
MEC for Education, O.J Tselapedi, were committed in getting education in
Khutsong normalised.
