The Minister of Education, Naledi Pandor will tomorrow, Wednesday, 5
September 2007 at 13h00, host a group of learners from schools around the
Western Cape province in her office in Cape Town, 120 Plein Street,
Parliamentary Building.
The learners will use the opportunity to showcase their reading talent to
the Minister.
The event is organised as part of the National Readathon Week, which began
yesterday, 3 September and ends on 7 September 2007.
Readathon is a national campaign aimed at promoting reading and writing
skills in order to develop a culture of reading in South Africa. Now in its
nineteenth year, Readathon is geared to distribute reading materials to more
than 26 000 schools, 330 000 educators and more than 13 million learners.
