The Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor (MP), will on Monday, 30
October 2006, at 11h00, host serving and retired teachers who have had
remarkable careers in education, in line with the commemoration of the signing
of the 1966 "United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation/
International Labour Organisation (UNESCO/ILO) Recommendation on the Status of
Teachers" and this year's theme of "Quality Teachers for Quality Education," at
the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town.
Minister Pandor will be joined by the provincial MEC�s for Education,
representatives of the South African Council for Educators (SACE), the
Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC), the Royal Netherlands Embassy, the
Education, Training and Development Practitioners (ETDP), Sector Education and
Training Authorities (SETAs) and the teacher unions.
