Minister of Education Mrs Naledi Pandor to host a Media
Briefing � Holiday Inn, Beatrix Street, at 13h00

The Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor (MP), will on Monday, 20
November 2006, at 13h00, brief the Media on the resolutions of the Council of
Education Ministers' (CEM) Meeting, at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Beatrix Street,
Arcadia, in Pretoria.

The Meeting is expected to discuss amongst many other issues, the
following:

* 2006 Senior Certificate Examinations
* implementation of the National Strategy for Mathematics, Science and
Technology in the Dinaledi Schools
* monitoring of the National Strategy for Learner Attainment (NSLA): Final
Report
* performance on National Priorities
* schools' Infrastructure Report for September 2006
* recapitalisation of Further Education and Training Colleges
* National Framework for Teacher Education: Implementation Plan
* National Reading Strategy.

The meeting is expected to note the following issues:

* measures for the Prevention of Learner Pregnancy in Public Schools
* school safety
* National Education Infrastructure Management System.

The Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor, will also make announcements
regarding the coming 16th Commonwealth Council of Education Ministers' Meeting,
scheduled to take place at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town, 11
� 14 December 2006.
