The Minister of Education Mrs Naledi Pandor and the Provincial MECs of
Education, will on Monday, 17 September 2007, at 12h45 brief the media about
the outcomes of the Council of Education Ministers meeting at Cullinan Hotel in
Cape Town.
The meeting will among other issues discuss the following:
* education sector priorities for 2008/09 Medium Term Expenditure
Framework
* progress report on the recovery plan
* learning and teaching support materials
* provincial state of readiness for the Senior Certificate Examination
* draft National Policy Framework on the organisation, roles and
responsibilities of education districts
* education management service
* implementation of the National Framework for Teacher Development
* revision of the Post Distribution Model for the Allocation of Educator Posts
to Schools.
* implementation of e-Education
* mass literacy campaign
* Quality Improvement, Development and Support Upliftment Programme in
provinces
* implementation of the National Strategy for Mathematics, Science and
Technology in the Dinaledi schools
* implementation of the National Curriculum Statement: Grades R to 12 (General)
* performance on national priorities
* schools' Infrastructure Report for July 2007
* recapitalisation of Further Education and Training Colleges
