The Minister of Education, Naledi Pandor will, on Friday, 27 July 2007,
travel to Maseru, Lesotho, to attend the meeting of the Southern African
Development Community (SADC) Ministers responsible for education and
training.
The meeting is expected to, amongst other issues, consider policy documents,
which would be presented at the third Conference of Ministers of Education of
the African Union (COMEDAF III) to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from
6 to 10 August 2007.
The policy documents to be considered are:
* strategy to revitalise technical and vocational education and training in
Africa
* strategy for harmonisation of higher education
* development of an Africa higher education quality rating mechanism.
The COMEDAF meeting in Johannesburg will discuss the progress on the
implementation of the second decade of education.
