Department of Education to host the Dinaledi Stakeholders’
Breakfast meeting

3 April 2006

The Department of Education will on Tuesday, 4 April 2006, at 08h30 host the
Dinaledi Stakeholders’ meeting at the Holiday Inn, Garden Court Hotel, Hulley
Road, Isando, Kempton Park.

The Minister of Education, Mrs Naledi Pandor, will deliver the keynote
address.

The purpose of the meeting is:

* To introduce the Dinaledi initiative to the business sector;
* To solicit a firm commitment from donors to continue and increase their
support for the expanded Dinaledi programme; and
* To attract more donors in view of the fact that Dinaledi Schools have been
increased this year from 102 to 400 and will be increased to 529 in 2007.

The Dinaledi Schools are schools dedicated to teaching mathematics, physical
science and technology. They were first introduced in 2001 following the launch
of the national strategy for mathematics, science and technology.

Also attending the meeting will be the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr
Enver Surty, and the Director-General of the Department of Education, Mr Duncan
Hindle.
