The Gauteng Department of Housing will today realise its commitment to
empower women when MEC Nomvula Mokonyane officially launches the Women
Empowerment Programme.
Mokonyane will unveil ten women construction companies who have been
allocated work to the value of R200 million over a period of three years and
support systems will be provided for mentoring and coaching through
professional teams.
Companies have been selected by the Department to participate in the
programme, to enable them to compete in their own right with established
developers. This is part of commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Women's
Anti-pass March and Women's Month.
