The Gauteng MEC for Housing, Nomvula Mokonyane, will hand over the newly
built Ekukhanyiseni Primary School to the Department of Education in Alexandra,
on Friday, 20 July 2007. The school was established in 1960 and built with
asbestos which posed a health hazard for learners.
The old building was demolished in 2005 and the new classrooms will benefit
1 111 learners. The school was built through the Alexandra Renewal Project
(ARP) which is a government integrated developmental project aimed at
rejuvenating Alexandra township.
