United Nations (UN) dialogue

The Minister of Home Affairs, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, will today
(Monday, 28 August 2006), address a workshop in preparation for South Africaâs
participation in the UN High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development.
The purpose of the dialogue is to discuss the nexus between migration and
development, and to identify mechanisms to maximise its development benefits
and minimise its negative impacts on migration. The multidimensional aspects of
international migration will also be discussed. It will also focus on policy
issues including the challenge of achieving the internationally agreed
development goals, such as the Millennium Development Goals.
