Departments of Home Affairs and Education Deputy Ministers to
visit Buffalo City Further Education and Training (FET) College in
Mdantsane

Deputy Ministers of Home Affairs and Education, Malusi Gigaba and Enver
Surty will visit John Knox Bonkwe Campus of Buffalo City FET College in
Mdantsane, Eastern Cape tomorrow (Friday, 20 October 2006).

The visit is part of the two Deputy Ministers Youth and Democracy Education
Campaign which was developed to engage young people of this country,
particularly those in FET Colleges on socio-economic opportunities available in
this country. The programme also seeks to encourage the youth to be active
agents for change in the creation of a better life for all in this country.

The deputy ministers will participate in various activities in Mdantsane to
discuss issues affecting young people in the area.

As part of the programme, Home Affairs, Social Development, Umsobomvu Youth
Fund and Buffalo Local Municipality will bring mobile units as part of the plan
to bring services closer to the people.

Members of the community will be afforded an opportunity to access valuable
information that can change their lives for the better.

The two deputy ministers are confident that, through this programme, the
government's programme of creating a pool of skills among patriotic young South
Africans will be achieved.
