Southern African Development Community (SADC) Council of Ministers meeting,
Gaborone, Botswana, Thursday, 23 to Friday, 24 February 2006

Tshwane â South African Foreign Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, will
lead the South African delegation to the SADC Council of Ministers Meeting in
Gaborone, Botswana, from Thursday to Friday, 23 to 24 February 2006.
Minister Dlamini Zumaâs participation in the Council of Ministers meeting
comes within the context of South Africaâs commitment to participate in SADC
with a view to successfully finalising its restructuring, and the
implementation the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP).
Issues on the agenda of Ministerial discussions are expected to include,
among others:
* A review of the Implementation of Council Decisions;
* Preparations for the 2006 SADC Consultative Conference;
* A review of the Operations of the Integrated Committee of Ministers;
* SADC/European Union Co-operation;
* Relations with International Co-operating Partners including the SADC-India
Forum; and
* Reports of the:
* Troika on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation;
* Implementation of New Partnership for Africaâs Development (NEPAD);
* Design, Financing and Construction of the New Headquarters Office Block;
and
* Finance Committee.
Minister Dlamini Zuma is expected to return to South Africa on Friday, 24
February 2006.
