Minister Dlamini Zuma arrives in Botswana ahead of SADC Council
of Ministers meeting

Gaborone – South African Foreign Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, landed
in Gaborone, Botswana, on Wednesday, 22 February 2006, ahead of the scheduled
Southern African Development Community (SADC) Foreign Ministers Council due
from Thursday to Friday, 23 to 24 February 2006.

Minister Dlamini Zuma is leading a South African government delegation to
the meeting within the context of South Africa’s commitment to the
strengthening and consolidation of SADC institutions and the implementation the
Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP).

The 14-member SADC Foreign Ministers Council is expected to deliberate, upon
among others:
* The regional political and economic situation;
* New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD);
* Finances of the region;
* SADC-European Union co-operation; and
* A report of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation.

Minister Dlamini Zuma is expected to return to South Africa on Saturday, 25
February 2006.
