The Department of Arts and Culture invites members of media to join Deputy
Minister Botha and her counterparts from the departments of Education,
Correctional Services and Social Development on a visit to two correctional
centres in the Gauteng Province. The visit comes after the departments of Arts
and Culture and Correctional Services had jointly launched the Arts in
Corrections (AIC) programme in March 2005. The AIC programme is aimed at
promoting arts and culture as a tool of rehabilitating offenders and ensuring
their successful reintegration into society. The visit will focus on children
whose mothers are in incarceration.
