Eastern Cape Premier, Nosimo Balindlela will this evening Friday, 7 December
2007 give Balasela Excellence Awards to individuals, government departments and
parastatals which, according to the Premier, have successfully implemented
government programmes that are aimed at improving the lives of the people.
Premier Balindlela said: "Today we will be rewarding public servants who
consistently go beyond the call of duty to ensure that the needs of the public
are met, those who strive for excellence in everything they do and endeavour to
bring about innovative and creative ways of responding to service delivery
demands and those who put people first, in line with Batho People principles by
treating people with dignity, respect and humility in the execution of their
duties".
Premier Balindlela will also give awards to projects that have been
successfully implemented by the government departments in the communities to
alleviate poverty and for the development of communities.
Premier Balindlela and the entire leadership of the Eastern Cape committed
the entire provincial administration to work tirelessly towards promoting a
culture of excellence in public administration through the Balasela programme,
because of its integrated service delivery improvement focus. "We hope that
through the Balasela programme, we will engender service delivery excellence as
a way of life amongst all public servants of the Eastern Cape Provincial
Government" said Premier Balindlela.
