Mpumalanga province will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic
march against the pass laws this Saturday, 12 August 2006 at Thulamahashe
Stadium in Bushbuckridge.
The event will start at 09h00 with women marchers from across the province
handing petitions to Premier Thabang Makwetla and Members of the Executive
Council at the Bushbuckridge Municipal offices. The marchers, who include both
veterans of the 1956 march and the new generation of young women, will get an
opportunity to reconnect the events and map the way forward.
Premier Thabang Makwetla and the MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation will
address the people at the stadium.
