In the wave of serious setbacks facing the Gauteng Department of Education,
MEC Angie Motshekga has summonsed all her managers to an urgent meeting
today.
This follows a series of events, starting with the non-payment of operators,
finding of ghost teachers in schools, chaotic march by the Congress of South
African Students (COSAS) as well as suspending of senior managers in the Soweto
District Office.
The MEC will tomorrow address the media on the following reports:
* forensic report on scholar transport
* uncovering of a scam to create and pay ghost teachers
* suspension of senior managers in the Soweto district
* memorandum by COSAS
* shocking statements by learners on SABC Special Assignment.
