Gauteng MEC for Education Angie Motshekga will on Friday, 10 February 2006,
officially be handed over the Torch of Peace from the Limpopo MEC for
Education, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi.
This is in line with Cabinetâs decision to have the No Violence Against
Women and Children campaign extended from 16 to 365 days.
The message from the Department of Education for the campaign is to create a
safe environment that does not tolerate gender violence in schools. The
campaign will focus on different themes to raise awareness of gender violence
in schools, higher learning and provincial departments.
