The Gauteng MEC for Education, Angie Motshekga and Head of Department (HOD)
Mallele Petje will be joined by almost 500 educators in Gauteng as they
celebrate World Teachers' Day and pay tribute and acknowledge their dedication
to the teacher profession.
Annually the 5 October marks a very important day for all teachers as the
world celebrates World Teachers' Day. This day is celebrated across the globe
in recognition and acknowledgement of the contribution that teachers make in
education and development.
The Gauteng Department of Education will on this day host a luncheon in
celebration of this day. The aim of this event is to mobilise support for
teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be
met by teachers.
It represents a significant token of the awareness, understanding and
appreciation displayed for the vital contributions that teachers make to
education and development.
