MINISTER SHABANGU TO BRIEF THE NATION ON SOUTH AFRICA’S PARTICIPATION AT THE 59 SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN

 

Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Ms Susan Shabangu will on Monday, 02 March, brief the nation on the state of readiness for South Africa’s participation at the 59th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59) in New York from 09 -20 March 2015.

 

Ahead of the media briefing Minister Shabangu will hold the final CSW59 closed consultation with stakeholders.

 

The CSW59 meeting marks the 20 year review of progress countries have made in implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (Beijing +20) and has seen the global community intensifying efforts towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the shaping of a post 2015  Development Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participating countries at CSW59 will be presenting their country reports on achievements made and country positions on a way forward.
