The Department of Minerals and Energy will be hosting a three-day conference
from 12-14 September 2006, with the themes Promoting Investment in the South
African Mining Industry, Consolidating Transformation in the Mining Industry,
and Technology for Women in Business. The conference will take place at Nasrec,
Gauteng.
The conference will run concurrently with the Mining Week organised by
Electra Mining Show. The objective of the Mining Week is to focus on the
positive aspects of mining in South Africa, which is to showcase South Africa's
expertise in the areas of science and technology.
In the evening of 14 September 2006, the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Ms
Buyelwa Sonjica will host a gala dinner at which she will honour those women
who have displayed technological skills in the development and advancement of
their businesses.
