The Department of Minerals and Energy invites you to a media conference on
the South African Nuclear Energy Policy and Strategy that has just been
approved by Cabinet.
The objectives of the policy include:
* promotion of nuclear technology as an important electricity supply
option
* creation of a framework for safe and secure utilisation of nuclear
energy
* guiding actions to develop, promote, support, enhance, sustain and monitor
the nuclear energy sector in South Africa.
Please note that copies of the Nuclear Energy Policy and Strategy will be
distributed at the media conference. Copies of the Nuclear Waste Policy, which
was approved in 2005, will also be made available.
